Due to the COVID pandemic, many of the previous eviction processes have changed.  Along with court procedures, many of the required notices have also been updated.  Here is a snippet taken from the California Courts- Judicial Branch of California’s website. The eviction process for landlords:

If you want your tenant to move out of your property you'll need to let them know in writing (give notice). If they're doing something they aren't supposed to, you'll need to tell them what they're doing wrong. If your tenant won't fix the problem or move out, you'll have to go through the court to get an order for them to move out.

The eviction process for tenants:
The eviction process starts with your landlord giving you a Notice to do or pay something, or to move out. If you don't do what your landlord asks, they can start an eviction case to ask the judge to order you to move out.

 

After the landlord gives you the Notice it can take 30-45 days, or longer, for the eviction case to end. If you lose the case, the judge can order you to move out of your home.
